Wow was it ever an incredible year. Definitely not without its ups and downs but the ups were certainly sky high. On the professional side, I course corrected early in 2017 returning to a career in PR with Bangel PR that fills my soul and fits our lives, not to mention I get to work for the most incredible girl boss Cat Bangel. The switch has allowed us to embark on an amazing journey of visual storytelling I could have only dreamed about. I’m shooting, editing and producing more video projects than ever before for our amazing clients and I couldn’t be happier. Our new content creation crusade has taken me to so many incredible family farms, edmonton kitchens, community events and into the local shops of our friends and partners and it absolutely fills me up with joy. We fringed the whole summer through and worked tirelessly with our friends in newsrooms across Edmonton to get so many important stories out into the world.
On the family front, our beautiful Paisley celebrated her second birthday surrounded by all of the amazing people in our lives that care so much about our little one. And of course we spent the year planning and preparing for the wedding of a lifetime. On, August 5 Ricky and I said “I Do” on the shores of Wabamun Lake after almost nine years of life and and love together. It was the most beautiful day and although getting there was an uphill climb I wouldn’t change it for anything. Our family also grew, as we celebrated the marriage of our cousin Dustin to his wife Chantelle, and my brother-in-law Carlos to his wife Jasmine. With more than 25 years together between the three couples it was definitely and incredible summer of love, family and celebration. To top it all off my very best friend Erika just got engaged to her man Steve and we couldn’t be happier for them!
On the personal front, I feel like my inner compass has never been more on point. I’ve been lucky enough to have the support I needed to advocate for myself and set my life on a course that is kind and meaningful. I am so grateful to have been given the opportunities I have in 2017.
Looking ahead to 2018 I really want to avoid setting a resolution in the traditional sense but instead maybe i’ll just send out some intentions into the universe that will hopefully bommerang back for me and the ones I love in the New Year. I hope that 2018 will be the year of more laughs, fun memories and exciting beginnings. May 2018 bring more mindful moments, mani pedis, games nights and family fun. Who knows what will happen in the new year, baby #2, perhaps? A trip back to the classroom to sharpen my creative skills? A getaway to a beach - somewhere..anywhere !? Regardeless of what does happen I’m so excited to find out and meet it with strength, enthusiasm and kindness for myself and all of the amazing people in my life.
Happy New Year!
